Project "Olimayam" brightening our future through sustainabledevelopment

Toronto, Canada - December 10, 2003 - TECH Canada, a think tank of Tamilprofessionals with a common goal of undertaking sustainable developmentprojects in war affected regions of Sri Lanka, is hosting a public forumto provide a status update of the organization's current project entitled"Olimayam" (or Project Illuminate).

The primary purpose of project "Olimayam" is to not only deliverphoto-voltaic solutions to the current energy needs in the Vanni regionbut also lay the ground work for the establishment of a local industryfor the manufacture of the same. Project "Olimayam" has moved from a mereconcept to full-fledged sustainable development project with thesuccessfull completion of the prototype phase and initial implementationphase at the intended sites.

The volunteer team will provide an overview of current status (includinga trip report) and present their proposal for moving forward with thisproject. Everyone who either has an expertise in any aspect ofsustainable development or merely has a keen interest in playing role inthis fullfilling endeavour is cordially invited to take part in thispublic discussion forum.

It is the sincere wish of the organizers of this forum to reach out tothe experts within our community and identify common goals which wouldbenefit the various community-oriented organizations and individualsalike.
