Adampan executions: 21 people killed!

On 12 October 1986, several Sri Lankan soldiers on combing operations were killed in an engagement with Tamil guerrillas in Admpan, North West Mannar. Following this incident, the troops launched a retaliatory attack in the area.
According to details submitted in two separate memoranda sent to the Sri Lankan President Jayawardene by the Mannar Citizens committee, at least 21 Tamil civilians were killed and 15 wounded between 12 and 20 October in the Admapan and Madhu areas.
The Citizens committee also pointed out that "there was large scale and intensive bombing from the air, strafing from helicopter gunships and artillery shelling and thus more than 200 houses in the area have been razed to the ground.
